Warning Orders for Hoveton Hall 26th and 27th May – the last day being the Bank Holiday Monday
Being pretty much as previous years so if you want to try out a few new things this is the place. Mardling may well take place.
Arrive and set up for some of us to get the authentic camp up and running, will be on the Saturday. We will also have a sprinkling of the French 21eme turning up so make them welcome. Could we put the tents up opposite each other to make sure there’s no “them and us” atmosphere from the start. Thanks for that. Fires are to be off the ground. 10 quid per person if you want to go into the communal food pool but no food on Saturday. Let me know if you have peculiar dietary needs. You get breakfast, lunch and BBQ dinner on the Sunday and breakfast and snack lunch on the Monday. Parking is the usual ‘get the kit out on site’ and then repark in the usual large car park at the plant shop end. Rachel has arranged for us to have the loos open all the time.
Sunday. We have the two usual sets ( at 12.00 and 2.30 each day ) plus any extras we care to throw in. eg ladies costume display with Sue doing the talk over? So ladies…if you’ve got it – flaunt it! There should be plenty of time for wandering round the stalls. There’s usually a purveyer of beer on site but it’s not the cheapest pint that you will find. Try and bring musical stuff if you can. Officers – if we are going to do the duel then we’ll need two pistols…
Monday is a repeat of Saturday. Will the Reverend Brimstone be “preaching” at any time? I envisage that we will be packing up from around 4 o’clock.
Got to say this is always a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing event and we get paid for doing it! Let’s give the Buxton’s the best we’ve ever done. With a mind to this I’m out at Coltishall in loonyform giving out pamphlets on the Friday and Saturday previous to the event. If anyone wants to help out then get in touch with me. I’m thinking around half an hour or so each time. Let’s see if this improves footfall for the Estate.

The highlight of the 2015 season had to be the events marking the 200 year anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.
The East Norfolk Militia did not attend the original battle, although members of the unit did serve as reinforcements for regular units. This year, as then, the ENM were serving alongside the 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot.
There are many reports on this even on the internet, but suffice to say that the memories of taking the field will remain with those who took part for the rest of their lives.
